I found this trip report I wrote from my July 4, 2002 trip to Disneyland Resort.
It is kind of fun to look back on for me, so I thought I would share.
This is Day One, if you enjoy it let me know and I will post the other days:
All American Adventure: 7/3/02 - 7/7/02
Starring:
Bryant AKA MegaDisney
Scott AKA ParadisePinocchio
Day One - Wednesday July 3, 2002
I didn't get off work until 3:00 p.m. so most of the day was spent dreaming about my vacation!
I called Scott and let him know I was ready to go. He came and got me; we took my bike to my house & picked up my luggage. Then we went and dropped off Scott's truck and picked up his beautiful new silver Mustang! We hit the road about 4:00 p.m.! WOO HOO!
C'mon everybody, here we gooooooo......
I had made a special "Soundtrack" for the trip, it was a two CD set with Disney Tunes, Beach Boys, Summer time party music, and some patriotic songs. Unfortunately the nifty labels I made for the CD's made them not load into Scott's CD properly, so we listened to CD's that Scott had mixed and burned. The drive was uneventful. Due to the heat we left the top up. In what seemed like no time, we were checking into the Paradise Pier Hotel.
We got an ADA room with a stall shower on the corner of the northern tower, 10th Floor, overlooking Paradise Pier, which was all lit up. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! We sat in the window, talking and looking at the park (which we did several times over the weekend).
The lure of the park was getting too strong, so we decided to head directly over to DL to see Believe. The walk from the PPH to the monorail station at DtD was no big deal. I have walked more to a bus stop in WDW from my hotel room many times. This is one thing I love about DLR compared to WDW... the convenience!!!
We tried to use our "Express Pass" for the Monorail, but found out it only worked from DL to DLR, so we decided not to wait, and just walk. The area was crowded, which I love!! It makes things a little hectic but I enjoy seeing the crowds, it is always a good sign for the resort.
Tito, give me a tissue....
We arrived just in time for the beginning of Believe! I have stated how much I love this show before, but I got to say this show ROCKS! The sound of the crowd reactions to some of the effects gives me goose pimples, as I realize how much this show moves people. I get teary eyed almost every time!
We decided to head over to the Lost Bar, a favorite of both of us. We sat at a table inside and ordered a couple of drinks, chicken strips for Scott, and nachos for me. They had a band, which always annoys me; I would prefer some piped in music that wasn't so loud. The band was very talented, but I enjoyed making fun of them anyway, just to vent my frustration with the noise level, and the fact that "I will Always Love You" is annoying no matter who sings it.
At around Midnight, we headed back to the room, sat and looked at DCA from the window some more, we noticed the new stage they have built (temporary) for the DCA Summer Concert Series.
Around 1 a.m. I finally turned in.
Coming up Day Two with special Guest Star Christina Aguilera.
