Day Five - Sunday July 7, 2002
Starring:
Bryant AKA MegaDisney
Scott AKA ParadisePinocchio
I hate this part....
We were up early for our last day at DLR
We were out the door and on the way to Disneyland. Spending the out last morning (usually Sunday) at Disneyland is kind of a tradition. We headed into the park for the final shopping of the trip.
I love the fact that they play Walt's speech from opening day right before the rope drop on Sundays. I grabbed Mocha at the bakery and we sat on the porch on Main Street and listened to Walt's speech, then headed to Carnation Cafe for breakfast. I had my favorite, Croissant Benedict and another Mocha, and Scott had a traditional breakfast.
After eating we headed over to NOS and rode Pirates and the Mansion one more time before leaving the park.
After that we hopped over to DCA and hit Screamin' and Soarin'. Some more last minute shopping in DCA and it was time to head back to the Hotel to check out and hit the road back to Phoenix.
This was an incredible trip! Thanks to Scott for driving all that way in his new Mustang.
Final Thoughts:
• The Paradise Pier Hotel has great views of DCA at night. Splurge for the theme park view and you won’t be disappointed. I spent a lot of time sitting in the window and watching the park.
• Yamabuki is not meant for "meat and potatoes" guys.
• Corn Dog Castle has the World’s best Corn Dogs.
• The premium annual pass discounts can really add up. It might be worth purchasing at least one for a multi-day trip, just for the discounts.
• Lisa at the Cove Bar makes the best margarita in the Northern Hemisphere.
• No matter what your age, you can be a kid again at DLR.
• Make a point of going early on Sunday mornings for Walt’s opening day speech played over the loudspeakers on Main Street.
• Knott’s Berry Farm (and in particular Xcellorator) with a hangover can be a challenge.
• If you can afford it the Disney Gallery Balcony seating for Fantasmic! is worth every penny.
• 4th of July weekend is VERY crowded, but that is part of the fun!
Thanks for reading my long report. I hope you enjoyed it!
